Roberta Macdonald was born Roberta Hatt of Canadian Swiss and Oklahoma parentage. Her early experiences with her siblings, living in a small town in the Texas panhandle, play an important role in her book. Her early practical life with chores, babysitting, and sharing a paper route with her twin brother, was important in that it taught her interdependence at an early age. She combines her early values and upbringing with her many experiences in the very real world of being a parent and step-parent of four, years of teaching in public schools, and counseling teenagers and families. Macdonald is able to blend a practical, positive, common sense approach with humor and knowledge gleaned from many years of studying, degrees and hands on experiences. From this blending Macdonald creates the unique wisdoms of Parent Success: 99 Ways to Make it Happen.
Her book, Parent Success: 99 Ways to Make It Happen, was written and used in many parent classes in the greater Seattle area for over 30 years. Roberta wrote the Parent Success book so that parents who are burdened with many parenting challenges and unexpected stressors will have a simple daily guide.
To find a “tip”, Roberta put the book in alphabetical order with 99 practical, positive and encouraging tools on each page. These tools remind parents of the important values and tenets parents may forget in the challenging world we live in. This is an easy and valuable book for parents of all age children.
